New Work
The highlight of 2008 was a commission in Guinea, West Africa, (by fROOTS and Sterns) to photograph Les Amazones de Guinée, a vibrant, all female military band.
While in the Capital Conakry, I located musicians from the original National Orchestras set up 50 years ago, many now in their 80’s. I was fortunate to meet and photograph the much respected Kelitigui (Kelitigui et ses Tambourinis) who died in December 2008.

A younger generation of musicians, have risen from the poverty stricken inner city areas of Conakry. Les Etoiles de Bulbinet (the stars of Bulbinet), Espoirs de Coronthie and Ba Cissoko who have found representation abroad as well as local stardom.
